We love the idea of possibly having an open adoption one day. When we first started the adoption process, having an open adoption sacred me because of my lack of knowledge. After doing some research and prayer the Lord has really opened our hearts and minds. Open adoptions have many benefits such as giving the birth mother confidence in her decision (not only during the placing process but throughout life--what a blessing!), giving the child a relationship with the birth mother, alleviating fears and answering questions the child might have, reducing identity issues for the child, and creating a unique support of love for the child.
We want our child to know his or her birth mother's name. We want him or her to know how selfless a sacrifice she made and how much she loves him or her.
Although if our birth mother prefers a closed or semi closed adoption, we will respect her wishes.
We want all birth mothers to know how much respect and love we have for them. These birth mothers are angels for those of us who are unable to have children. You are always in our thoughts and prayers!
